PKMN SWSH - Sonia Lines

The line work on this little picture “speedrun” is now complete. I think that took like, what? An hour? I think I’m on a good pace here. After I eat lunch, I’m going to move on to the coloring. I’ll see you then with the next step.

PKMN SWSH - Sonia Sketch.jpg

So Gamefreak just released a direct for the upcoming Pokemon games Sword and Shield, and with it came a batch of new information, and more importantly, new characters. So, I decided to hop on the bandwagon and see just how quickly I can churn out a piece of  fan art for one of the new characters. I went with Sonia because she was the only girl they revealed today who wasn’t a literal grandma, and hey, I just wanted to draw a cute girl. Here’s just a rough sketch I was able to get done in about an hour and a half. Let’s see just how long it’ll take me to come out with a full colored and shaded picture of her (keeping in mind that the direct was a little over 2 hours ago).

With that, I’ll see you all with the next step of the process.

Gee, I wonder what kind of internal emotional conflict Alex is going to have to deal with this arc…? Could it be that he’s not as much of a loner as he thinks he is…? Am I being too on the nose here? Tune in next week to find out! Anyways, this particular multi-pager is going to have a bit of weirder pacing than usual in that there are obvious break points where I could divide it up into several individual comics. The reason that I didn’t do that though, is because some of those comics would’ve been just a tad bit too short and I would’ve felt the need to needlessly pad them out in order to make them the proper length. And lord knows I don’t need to start doing that now…  Basically, expect this one to do a lot of jumping around quickly from scene to scene.

Also, don’t you guys just love the fact that I get so anal about my own writing that I feel the need to overly explain and foreshadow tiny little pacing changes in the story like this? Probably should work on me feeling the need to do that… But any who, that’s all from me, so until then, I’ll see you next comic.
